2024-04-24: First episode 2024 of the podcast “Digitalization of Medicine” published
Topic of the new episode: Digitalization in cardiology - numbers, data, empathy
Cardiology is a technical discipline. Numerous values are measured and evaluated for diagnostic purposes. These include, for example, blood pressure, ECG, oxygen saturation and blood flow. Technical systems such as ECG and blood pressure measuring devices, pulse oximeters, X-ray and sonography devices and nuclear medicine systems are used as standard for measurement. In addition to the technical recording of various medical data, however, the medical discussion with the person being treated is also important for the diagnosis. This is not only about recording relevant data, but also about building a trusting relationship between doctor and patient. How digitalization can also be used sensibly here, what role medical data plays for medical guidelines and what advantages the digitalization of medicine brings, especially for women, will be discussed in here Katja Weber with Dr. Samira Soltani.
Dr. Soltani is a junior doctor in the Department of Cardiology and Angiology at Hannover Medical School, where she is currently undergoing further training to become a specialist in cardiology. In her role as a doctor in the study outpatient clinic, she came into contact with the HiGHmed Use Case Cardiology in the early 2020s. (You can find a podcast episode about this hier.) and has thus become familiar with the structured recording and storage of treatment data for patient care and clinical research.
Dr. Soltani highlights the potential that digitalization offers for cardiology from a medical perspective, particularly through the structured collection and comprehensive availability of data.
