Welcome to PLRI
Good medicine and good healthcare demand good information. Informatics in medicine and healthcare contributes significantly to high-quality and affordable healthcare worldwide.
The Peter L. Reichertz Institute for Medical Informatics (PLRI) is a joint institute of TU Braunschweig and Hannover Medical School (MHH). It is located in one of Europe's most research-intensive regions. We at PLRI research in interdisciplinary projects with healthcare centers, research institutes, enterprises, and public organizations to shape the future of healthcare and medicine. Our activities range from the local level (e.g., in the metropolitan region Hannover Braunschweig Göttingen Wolfsburg) towards the global level, e.g., with the World Health Organization (WHO). The PLRI is an institutional member of the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI) and the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA).
We teach students in medicine (MHH), computer science (TU Braunschweig), and related programs. We offer the doctoral degrees: Dr.rer.nat. (PhD), Dr.-Ing, Dr.med (M.D.), and Dr.rer.biol.hum.. PLRI provides a medical informatics curriculum in the bachelor and master programs of computer science at TU Braunschweig, which is equivalent to international programs in medical informatics.
