Summary
In order to attract more women as specialists and managers to the digital healthcare system, HiGHmed is developing offers for young female academics.
The first HiGHmed SummerSchool Woman in Health and Computer Science (WinHaCS) took place in 2019, comprising three workshops and five accompanying podcasts. In order to reach graduates and young female scientists from different research areas, the workshops were offered at the three locations Technical University Braunschweig (TU Braunschweig), Hannover Medical School (MHH) and University Hannover (HsH). The workshops dealt with the topics of self-presentation in a scientific context, teamwork and leadership skills and negotiation strategies.
While the workshops primarily served to acquire additional skills, the podcasts are intended to raise public awareness of the topic. In interviews with various female scientists and experts, career-relevant aspects of the role of women in management positions especially in the digital world will be discussed. The podcast "DigitalisationDerMedizin.de" will be continued in 2020 with six new interesting episodes.
